Victor Paul Frost Memorial |

Victor's twin brother Richard died in August 1942, which had a fairly traumatic affect on Vic. This in part led to Vic convincing his parents to allow him to enlist early (~16 yeaars old) in the Merchant Marines along with his older brother Joe, and thus joined the war effort. Victor primarily served as a radio officer. After the war Victor decided to leverage his veterans benefits to get an education. He enrolled in an art school in Denver. While living and working in Denver he met Margaret Jean McGrath. Vic and Jean married September 3, 1949 in St. Philomena's Church, Denver, Colorado. Victor was accepted to Art Center School in Los Angeles, CA (then and now one of the finest and most prestigeous art schools in the country), so the couple moved to California. Victor was trained priarily as an Art Director, and after graduation worked as an Art Director for several of the largest advertising agencies in New York. Victor later worked more or less as an independent Art Director and commercial photographer (at one time being one of the most sought after photographers for print ads for food products). Victor and Jean had three sons, raising their family in New York - all but the first 3 years in the same house in West Islip. (As of this writing, Vic and Jean are survived by their sons Richard, David, and Michael, as well as their grandchildren Erik, David, Heidi, and Heather, step-grandaughter Diana, and step-great-grandchildren Joanna and Bradley.) After a series of falls in late 2014 and early 2015, Victor's health deteriorated. When he was no longer able to live in his multi-story home of nearly 60 years, his sister Kate and her husband John took him into their home in Vermont, and gave him the loving family care he so strongly desired (very much not wanting to spend his final days in a hospital or institution). Victor loved the time with family and the summer weather in Vermont, and died peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2015, 87 years young. |
