For A. K. Frost
Funeral rites for A. K. Frost were held Friday, March 7, at the Ashburn Mortuary in Plainview with Rev. Thomas B. Dixon, officiating. Burial was made in the Brunswick cemetary.
Arthur Knowlton Frost was born at Vinton, Iowa, May 24, 1869, and passed away at Norfolk Nebraska, March 3, 1947, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 9 days.
Mr. Frost's family moved to Antelope county in 1883, settling southeast of Brunswick, where he had lived since with the exception of two years spent in California while a young man.
On May 16, 1896, he and Sophie Petersen were united in marriage and lived happily together for nearly 51 years, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary at Spearfish, South Dakota, last May. Two daughters and eight sons were born to bless this union.
During over sixety years of residence in this community, Mr. Frost was always an interested and intelligent participant in public and civic affairs, and worked unceasingly for the improvement of the community. He was one of the pioneers in the development of farmers' cooperatives, and at one time served as a state director of the Farmers' Union. He was for many years engaged in the general contracting business in this vicinity, and many homes and other buildings scattered throughout Antelope and Pierce counties are monuments to his fine craftsmanship and insistence on good workmanship.
He had been in ill health for several years, but until recently had been able to be about, and visit with his friends and took a keen interest in community and public affairs.
He is survived by his widow, eight children: David H. of Lincoln; Arthur K. of Lead, South Dakota; Mrs. Gilbert Marten (Edith) of Seattle, Washington; Ellery, of Joliet, Illinois; Harold of Wichita, Kansas; Kenneth of San Angelo, Texas; Donald of Brunswick; and Mrs. Clarence Riggs (Dorothy) of Spearfish, South Dakota; and twenty-one grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death, one in 1919 and one in 1936.
